    Tim Moore - Executive Partner

I am a deal-making partner for our clients but also exceptionally meticulous. I enjoy working with CEOs and leading executives and have become a confidante and chief strategist to a significant number of our CEO clients over the years – a true compliment because I earn their trust. I co-lead our executive compensation practice with Adam Stella and am proud of the business relationships that have blossomed from opportunities to work with our executive clients. I started my executive compensation career at Skadden, Arps (Los Angeles) and practiced at Wachtell, Lipton (New York) before co-founding our Firm. Before that, I graduated from The University of Southern California (JD) and the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) Stephen M. Ross School of Business (BBA). I am a fun Dad and happy husband and am fortunate to have traveled extensively. When I had spare time, I competed in amateur golf tournaments across the U.S. I have seen lightning strike a human; I respect thunderstorms.

    Michael Moulton - Executive Partner

I lead our corporate practice and specialize in finding practical solutions to complex problems. I’ve helped clients launch, grow, partner with and sell companies . . . and deal with all of the vicissitudes in between. Prior to co-founding our Firm, I was a corporate attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where I specialized in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic transactions and board advisory work. Before that, I got a JD from the University of Southern California – where I have taught a first-year legal writing class for almost a decade – and a BA from Princeton University. Prior to that, I grew up in Wyoming. There, I spent summers laying concrete, painting houses and stacking hay; I spent winters skiing and feeding newborn calves bottles of warm milk and coffee to help jumpstart their hearts after they were born in 50-degree-below-zero weather. In my free time, I adorn my “Best Dada Ever” t-shirt and try to live up to the emblem while playing with my kids; I devour books; and I generally do whatever my wife tells me to do.

I do my best work when I can dig in with our clients and really understand what makes them tick. Technically savvy but practical, I want to find the solutions that work best for our clients. I co-lead our executive compensation practice with Tim Moore. Before joining Moulton | Moore | Stella, I was a partner at Ropes & Gray. Before that, I received my JD from New York University and a BA from Brown University. I am a lucky husband and Dad of two. When life allows, I love to travel, scuba dive and be outdoors. I grew up with two Patrick Ewing posters on my walls and a deep love of the gritty style of the ‘90s New York Knicks; I have almost recovered from the trauma of the 1994 NBA Finals.

I’m at my best helping clients assess decision points while navigating technical details with an eye on the bottom line. I focus my practice on executive compensation; before joining Moulton | Moore | Stella, I was an executive compensation attorney at Ropes & Gray and Shearman & Sterling in New York. I grew up around Fort Worth, and earned my JD from the University of Texas and my BA from Baylor University, where I met my wife in music theory class. I spend my free time with my wife and kids, and enjoy reading and thinking far too much about American soccer. To my kids’ disappointment, I’ll probably never be an astronaut.

I am at my best when in the trenches guiding my clients through the inflection points and high stakes moments of their careers, and I derive great pleasure in assisting them in securing favorable outcomes. My practice is focused on executive compensation, which I began practicing at Ropes & Gray and most recently at Sullivan & Worcester. I am thrilled to work as a partner with former colleagues and friends at Moulton Moore Stella. Before my career as an executive compensation attorney, I was a law clerk to the Honorable Bruce S. Jenkins of the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah.

While at Moulton Moore Stella, I have relished the opportunity to represent many founders, executives and individual investors by negotiating and documenting their equity, compensation and separation packages in the context of liquidity events, new employment opportunities and fund formations. I have also enjoyed working with company clients by preparing equity and compensation plans, agreements (including employment agreements) and arrangements for their executive employees.

I obtained a Masters of Tax Law from Boston University School of Law, a JD from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law and a BA from Brigham Young University.

Outside of work, I love traveling to new places with my wife, son and daughter, running, and cheering on my alma mater, the BYU Cougars, in all sports. Having been born and raised in Utah, I believe there are two kinds of people in the world—those who know that John Stockton was the best point guard to ever grace the hardwood and those who are wrong.
